Home to the Chalukya empire of the 14th Century, Dhamtari is an important tourist town of Chattisgarh, also known for its temples. The town has a population of around 82000. It attracts a lot of tourists every year, particularly during the monsoon seasons to the Ravishankar Water Dam.It is also famous for its folk culture and wildlife sanctuary.
History
Dhamtari is located along the banks of Mahanadi and its tributaries Pairy, Sendur, Sondur, Joan, Kharun and Shivnath. Paddy cultivation is common in these lands. The district still preserves its tribal history and culture in tribal hamlets and different traditional art forms like music, local cuisines and dance.
Suggisted Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Raipur Drive to Kanker via visiting Bhilai, Dhamtari Rich at Kanker. Have a royal stay at the farmer princely state of Kanker. Over night at kanker.
Day 2: Morning drive to visit muria village and enjoy the gutal dance of muria tribal community. Then proceed to kondagaon, kadeichapra village to see the traditional bastar art. After proceed to Jagadalpur. Overnight at Jagadalpur.
Day 3: morning proceed to visit chitrakot waterfall. On the way back visit the baisan Maria village. Overnight at Kanker.
Day 4: After breakfast drive to Rajim visit the Beautiful Rajiblochan temple, afternoon free for own activity. Overnight at Raipur.
Day 5: Transfer to airport/ railway station for onward journey.
